University of Toledo History and Traditions

Blue Crew strives to uphold the history and traditions at the University of Toledo.  Here in these pages you will see the rich history that makes us so proud to call this place our university.

Before continuing, we want to thank some of the people that put their time and effort into researching and compiling this valuable information:

- Donovan T. Nichols '04, Creator, producer and researcher of this website and information
- Lori 'Zientara' Edgeworth '82, Student Activities Director 1987-2001
- Daniel Seemann, Student Activities Director 1967-76
- William E. Navarre, 1st Official Rocky the Rocket 1968-69
- Nick Kissoff, Rocky the Rocket 1978-79
- Mark Hansen '00
- Athletics Department
- Barbara Floyd, University Archivist, and the Ward M. Canaday Center staff
- UT Retirees
- Student Activities Office
- Enrollment Management Office
- Tom and Sandy Nichols, oddly enough they are both BGSU graduates

And finally...

To all of us who walk the hallways and sidewalks of The University of Toledo campus, may we show that appreciation through our efforts to continue and enrich these UT Traditions.

Our Founder, Donovan Nichols, wrote his thesis on the importance of traditions in the higher education community.
